VICTVS Conference 2026: Candidates for Hire and Exclusive Insights

ASRG was pleased to be part of this year’s VICTVS Conference, Raising the Standard: Accountability in Assessment, where our Head of Research Niamh Pierce shared some insights from our latest research. It was a valuable opportunity to exchange ideas with people from across the education and assessment sector who are all working to protect the integrity of assessment.

The conference featured a range of discussions on accountability in assessment, including how smaller awarding organisations can scale their approaches to assessment integrity, as well as global operations perspectives on maintaining consistent standards across different contexts. There were also some interesting sessions on how feedback across the assessment process needs to be better aligned to reduce motivations and opportunities for cheating, and the important role human judgement continues to play in identifying and interpreting potential issues within assessment.

ASRG’s presentation focused on findings from our recently published paper, Candidates for Hire, which investigates the growing threat of assessment impersonation. Through a case study of an online impersonation provider, the research examines how proxy candidate services operate, the role of identity fraud in facilitating assessment malpractice, and the challenges these evolving threats present for organisations delivering assessments.

Attendees also received an exclusive preview of ASRG’s upcoming research paper, offering an early insight into the next major threat to assessment that ASRG has investigated. While we’re not revealing the details just yet, we’re excited to share our latest work soon. ASRG members will be the first to see the full findings when they are released. If you’re not already a member, make sure to sign up here: ASRG Membership

As cheating methods and technologies evolve, it is vital that we continue to foster open conversations such as those had at the VICTVS Conference. Ultimately, it is only by doing this that we can work together to strengthen assessment integrity — the cornerstone of our work here at ASRG.
